Beach Note Card Set

Hey everyone!!  How the heck are you???  I have been offline for a really long time!  I'm so sorry!!  Anyway, the good news is that I'm back!!  Hope you're ready!

My mom's birthday was earlier this month and I decided to make a notecard set for her gift.  I made the cards during a recent day/evening "crop" at Archivers where I was lucky enough to use my friend Betsy's "Life is a Beach" cart to make them.  Here's a little background on why I chose to make beach themed cards...My parents have a beach house in Delaware where my mom spends the summer.  Their little cottage is where my mom spent her summers as a little girl with her family, and is where she brought my brothers and I to spend a month of each of our summers growing up.  I am now lucky enough to pass on this tradition to my boys.  In fact, we are actually spending 3 weeks here with her NOW!!  Sooo, I wanted to give her a set of cards that she could leave at the cottage to use throughout the summer.

As I mentioned, the images from each of the cards was cut using the "Life is a Beach" cart.  The cards are all standard A2s.  Unfortunately, I do not know the sizes of the images as I used a Gypsy to size them up.  I used Glossy Accents to make the shells on the three shell card "pop".

The box was made using my Martha Stewart Score board.  The top is a 7 3/4" by 9" sheet of cardstock scored on each side at 1 1/2".  The bottom is a 7 5/8" by 8 7/8" sheet of cardstock scored on each side at   1 1/2". This size was perfect for my 4 A2 size cards and matching handmade envelopes (made using standard instructions included in with the Martha Stewart Score Board).  I also used the MSSB instructions to assemble the box top and bottom.

The sand castle on the front of the box was cut from the "Create a Critter" cart. I cut the background layer once, and the top layer twice.  I then hand cut off the top and sides of one of the top layers.  I used these pieces to create yet another layer on top of the final sandcastle.  Before adhering all of the layers onto one another, I covered them with some 2 way glue using my Zig pen and then covered them with some sand from my kids' sandbox.  The effect was really good, however the sand made adhering the layers a little difficult.  I ended up using some pop dots and Glossy Accents to hold it all together.

My mom loved the gift, and I really hope she uses the cards instead of saving them for a special occasion and then never using them!

As always, thanks for looking!  Check back again tomorrow for another project!
