PTI Blog Hop Take 3

This is my final project for today's blog hop on Nichole Heady's blog for PTI.  Here's another shot of the inspiration board...

March-Blog-Hop-Inspiration

Last but not least is project #3.

For the gloss effect on this one I die cut an acetate sheet with one of my new PTI dies.  My son Jake asked me if this one was for him...I think it just might be! :)

Here's another look.

Thanks for stopping by friends!  Can't wait to check out all of your projects!

PTI Blog Hop Take 2

I'm still SUPER excited about today's blog hop on Nichole Heady's blog for PTI.  Here's another shot of the inspiration board...

Those spring colors and all that SHINE!!  This is my kind of inspiration!  :)

On to project #2 which features...you guessed it...more gold!

I have to say, this one is WAAAY prettier in person...I need some serious help with my photography skills (I'm just too cheap to take a class and too cheap to purchase a really expensive camera!).  Any photography tips would be greatly appreciated friends!

What you can't really see in this pic is that the gold running down the side of this card is VERY sparkly...mmmm, sparkles!  The gloss on this one is also a little difficult to see in this photo.  Here's a closeup of that...

Pretty, huh?

Thanks for stopping by friends!  Can't wait to check out all of your projects!

PTI's March Blog Hop

I'm SUPER excited about today's blog hop on Nichole Heady's blog for PTI.  The theme is "High Gloss," and since I love just about everything glam this is right up my alley!  Couldn't you just eat up the inspiration board for this challenge??

Those spring colors and all that SHINE!!  This is my kind of inspiration!  :)

So, I have 3 projects to share with you for this hop.  First up is a project I actually created for the Anniversary challenges, but I can't remember if I ever posted it because I was having so many computer issues during February!  So, please forgive me if this one's a repeat!

As you can see, the gloss on this one comes from the acetate sheet I used to put the sentiment on.  I just love the color pallet on this one...reminds of THE Dawn McVey!

Here's another shot of this one!

Oh, and as you may notice...I am a little obsessed with GOLD at the moment!  I just can't get enough!

Stay tuned for Card #2!

PTI Anniversary Contest

Hi all!  So, the PTI Anniversary Wishlist Contest is actually over, but I created a bunch of projects that I tried to post for the contest but had some technical difficulties.  However, I still wanted to share them here!  I won't be posting a lot of detail this time because I made these in February and frankly, I don't think I remember everything I used (if you have specific questions about anything feel free to leave a comment and I'll do my best to answer).  Just know that the challenge was to choose one color combination and one sketch provided on Nichole Heady's blog and create a new project.

I have always considered myself someone who follows the rules, but I have discovered that as I get older (and craftier), I'm not so good at following the rules!  You'll see that a few of my cards do not really use the suggested color combos, and I was pretty liberal with my interpretation of the sketches.  I will say though, when I challenged myself to stick to a couple of the color combos I was really pleased with the results and ended up creating something I never would have otherwise!  Go me!

Anyway, here is a link to the suggested color combos and sketches:

PTI January Blog Hop - Jake's Entry

I have something extra special for you today!  I should begin by explaining that lately my eldest son Jake has taken a serious interest in mom's paper crafting hobby.  I cannot tell you how special it is for me to be able to share something with him that I enjoy so much!  After teaching him some of the card making basics and showing him how to use some tools he has just taken off!  He has made several cards so far, but the one I want to share right now is the one he made for this month's PTI blog hop.

Didn't he do a great job?  I told him that the challenge was to include the color pink and then I let him use his own imagination.  He saw the strips I used for my first blog hop entry and he wanted to use some on his card.  He chose the Smokey Shadow card base and adhered the strips himself.  He then said he wanted to cut a heart of out the middle, so I showed him my PTI heart dies.  He arranged them on the card himself and ran it through my Cuttlebug.  I then made a few suggestions for papers he could use to back the cut outs and he chose the Raspberry Fizz polkadot paper.  I just love this kid!  Pink has always been one of his favorite colors!

I told him I was going to enter his card in the hop and he was super excited.  I just know he would appreciate any comments you wish to leave him!  Thanks for your support and thanks for visiting!

PTI January Blog Hop

Hi y'all!  Can you believe I'm back again?  I have been feeling sooo inspired lately and have been itching not only to create, but to share with all of you too!  I wanted to participate in this month's PTI Blog Hop, and the challenge is to create something using pink.  When I decided to participate I had already made my Valentine cards for the year (to come in another post), so I wanted to make something else.

Ever since pouring the PTI Design Team projects for the January release, I kept finding myself thinking about this card by Ashley Cannon Newell:
AshleyCannonNewell_01

I just LOVE the patterned paper in the background!  Soooo, I thought I would try to re-create it using some pink!  Here's what I came up with:

How'd I do?  (Man you can really tell I need a new camera and some lighting!)  What I love about this technique is that it looks like a lot more work than it really was!  I simply cut uniform strips of Hibiscus Burst paper, covered a card base with ATG adhesive and arranged the strips in the herringbone pattern from left to right.  Once it was finished, I decided it needed a little something more to help define the individual strips, so I rubbed the whole front with some Vintage Cream ink then some Fresh Snow ink.

To finish things off, I added some layered accents (see die cuts listed below).

Thanks so much for visiting!  I can't wait to see everyone's creations this month!

Multi-Layer Images From a Single Stamp

Ummm...'kay...so I haven't posted in, like...FOREVER!  That's not to say that I haven't been crafting, I just haven't found the time for blogging.  Good thing I'm not a professional blogger...I'd be broke for sure!  So, this is my attempt at resuming blogging!  Wish me luck!

This week I wanted to start by participating in PTI's Make-It-Monday whose topic is creating multi-layer images from a single stamp.  Here's Betsy Veldman's example:

Can you believe that all of these medallions are made from a single stamp each?  I'm excited to make some tags with these same stamps, but I didn't want to do that for my MIM entry since I felt I would just be copying Betsy.  So...I went hunting for another stamp that might work for this technique.  I have been dying to use my Irresistibly Ikat set and thought I would try it out here.  Here's what I came up with:

I just love this large focal image and I wanted to try a color combo that may be a little unexpected.  Here I've used Royal Velvet, Orange Zest and Hawaiian Shores.  The color combo is fantastic in person!

Another thing I have started doing lately is making at least two cards each time I start creating.  My card stash has been thinning lately and I wanted to bulk it up a little. :)  So, here's my second card:

 Same but different...right?

Well, thanks for stopping by and checking my creations out.  I've missed you!
